Nick Reiner has been indicted on new murder charges related to the December 2025 killings of his parents, Rob and Michele Reiner. The indictment, filed on July 20 and unsealed Wednesday, includes allegations of "lying in wait" and the use of a dangerous weapon, a knife. These additions are considered special circumstances that could make the defendant eligible for life without parole or the death penalty.

Reiner, 32, pleaded not guilty to the new charges in a Los Angeles court on Wednesday. The indictment allows prosecutors to proceed directly to a trial without a preliminary hearing, where evidence would typically be presented. Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan J. Hochman stated, "This was a profound betrayal by someone who was loved and trusted by the very people he is accused of killing." He added, "We hope that by having a grand jury return an indictment in this case it will bring us one step closer to a trial and achieving justice."

Nick Reiner was initially arrested on December 14, 2025, accused of murdering his parents at their Los Angeles home in the Brentwood area. Rob Reiner was 78 and Michele Reiner was 70 at the time of their deaths. He was originally charged with two counts of first-degree murder and pleaded not guilty in a February court hearing. Reiner has been held at Twin Towers Correctional Facility in Los Angeles.
