Nick Lachey Discusses Past Marriage on 'Love Is Blind' Premiere

Nick Lachey opened the 11th season of the Netflix series "Love Is Blind" by referencing his previous marriage to Jessica Simpson. Lachey, who has co-hosted the show with his wife Vanessa Lachey since 2020, shared his thoughts on divorcees in the dating scene when a contestant expressed concerns.

During the season premiere, contestant Erika Ellis voiced apprehension about dating as a divorcee. Lachey responded by sharing his unique perspective: "Well, as some of you may know, I was previously married before I met my incredible wife. I would make the very unique argument that it gives you a leg up because you know from that experience, what it is you truly want."

Vanessa Lachey, standing beside her husband, added, "We all have messy pasts, all of us." She then gestured to Nick, reinforcing her statement.

Lachey and Simpson, who were married from 2002 to 2006, allowed cameras into their lives for the MTV reality show "Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica." The show concluded in 2005, the same year Simpson filed for divorce.

Nick Lachey has been married to Vanessa Lachey since 2011, and they have three children together. The couple now co-hosts both "Love Is Blind" and "The Ultimatum."

Vanessa Lachey described her early relationship with Nick as a form of unconventional dating. She explained on "Today" in 2020 that their long-distance courtship, primarily through texting and phone calls, allowed them to connect on a deeper level before meeting in person. "We weren't distracted by seeing each other at dinner and then saying 'Hey! You wanna hang out or you wanna makeout' or whatever it is when you see someone in person, you just get to dive into what makes us tick and what our passions are," she said.

In "Love Is Blind," contestants date and form connections without seeing each other, only meeting face-to-face after agreeing to marry.
