NHS Workers Accused of Antisemitic Social Media Posts

An investigation by the Campaign Against Antisemitism (CAA) has revealed that five National Health Service (NHS) workers allegedly shared inflammatory social media posts. These posts reportedly included claims that Zionists "control the world," described Hamas terrorists as "the resistance," and depicted Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in violent imagery, with one post stating he "needs to be dead."

Among those identified are a general practitioner (GP) who allegedly posted a graphic of Netanyahu wearing a bloodied apron and holding a knife over a sleeping child. An occupational therapist is accused of reposting content that labeled the Bondi Beach mass shooting a "false flag" event. Another GP reportedly referred to Israel as a "terrorist octopus."

These alleged incidents were uncovered by the CAA as part of its investigation into claims of antisemitism within the NHS. The group's recent documentary, "Malignant: Anti-Semitism in the NHS," featured accounts from British-Jewish patients and staff who reported experiencing abuse in UK hospitals.

Fatimah Mohamied, a midwife and a registered "cultural safety champion" at West Middlesex Hospital in London, was accused of supporting Hamas on October 7, 2023. She allegedly responded enthusiastically to a post stating, "Palestinians have a right to resist their occupation - we have a right to support them. It's that simple." In a now-deleted blog post from January 2025, Mohamied reportedly criticized the Midwifery Forum for "hosting Zionists," stating, "There is no neutrality in degradation, there is no balance in ignoring opposition to Zionists, there is no innocence in hosting Zionists." Her employer referred her to the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) and the Metropolitan Police under the Prevent counter-terrorism scheme following accusations of online antisemitism and racial hatred. Both referrals were dismissed, and Mohamied denies wrongdoing, having filed a claim against her former employer.

Occupational therapist Zaida Akhtar, also known as Zee Zidane, was nominated for a "Values in Practice" award by Birmingham Community Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust for her commitment to the trust's values of being caring, open, respectful, responsible, and inclusive. However, the CAA found social media posts allegedly calling for violence against Netanyahu's son, Avner, referring to him as the "son of the devil." Akhtar also reportedly reposted content labeling the US as supporting a "Genocidal Zionist Settler Colonial Project in Palestine" and accompanied by a graphic image of a US delegate performing a Nazi salute. In December 2025, she allegedly shared a conspiracy video characterizing the Bondi Beach shooting as a "false flag" event, insinuating Israel benefited from 9/11.

Three doctors have also been implicated. Dr. Abdelaal Ragheb Elfarra, a GP at St James's University Hospital in Leeds, was reportedly filmed at a protest in April 2025 stating, "Zionists control the media. Zionists control the world." He also allegedly compared Israel's actions in Gaza to the Holocaust. On social media, Dr. Elfarra is accused of posting the graphic of Netanyahu with a knife over a child, a depiction the CAA claims echoes the antisemitic blood libel. He also allegedly shared posts about the Rothschild family controlling global finance and Elon Musk being controlled by Zionists.

Manchester-based psychiatrist Dr. Ahmed Sewehli, associated with Healthworkers for Palestine, allegedly commented on a post in November 2024, "Netanyahu should be dead." He reportedly repeated this sentiment in April 2025. Dr. Sewehli also described Zionism as "the ideology of terror, mass murder, displacement and depravity" and suggested ISIS was learning from IDF terrorists. He also reportedly claimed that the term 'antisemitism' had been watered down by Zionists. Additionally, he allegedly posted that the Labour government were "agents of Israel" and that Keir Starmer was "owned" by the Jewish Labour Movement.

Dr. Nadeem Crowe, an A&E medic, allegedly posted in July 2025 that Israel is "a terrorist octopus with its head in Israel and tentacles far reaching into every continent." In April 2025, he reportedly shared content stating that Zionism is an ideology where "stealing land, bombing hospitals, sniping civilians, and burning children alive is called 'self-defense' – but throwing a rock at a tank is 'terrorism.'" He was suspended mid-shift in August 2024 from the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust following complaints about his social media activity, described by a colleague as "absolutely vile" and antisemitic. Dr. Crowe has denied supporting Hamas but stated at a tribunal that calling them "freedom fighters" would not be "entirely unacceptable."

The CAA stated that these findings indicate extremism is becoming widespread in the medical profession and called for authorities to address the issue. A poll by the group found that one-third of British Jews felt uncomfortable using the NHS since October 7, 2023, with over 40% admitting to hiding their Jewish identity when seeking care.

In response, a Department for Health and Social Care spokesperson said that a review was commissioned to "to root out the cancer of antisemitism and other forms of racism from our health service" and that professional regulators are expected to take action. An NHS England spokesperson reiterated that any form of antisemitism or racism is "wholly unacceptable" and requires a zero-tolerance approach. The General Medical Council (GMC) stated that antisemitism is "completely unacceptable" and that it will investigate serious concerns that could risk patient safety or public confidence in doctors.
