The NFL has suspended two of its officials following unsportsmanlike conduct during Week 4 games. Line judge Jeff Seeman received a two-game ban for swearing at Arizona tight end Trey McBride, who was protesting a no-call for pass interference. Referee Adrian Hill was suspended for one game for unprofessional conduct after yelling at and gesturing toward Minnesota linebacker Eric Wilson.

The suspensions come after a weekend marked by several high-profile profane outbursts, including exchanges between players and coaches. In one instance, San Francisco 49ers linebacker Dre Greenlaw, a former Broncos player, engaged in a verbal altercation with Denver coach Sean Payton after the game. Greenlaw, who had previously been suspended for a similar incident with an official while with the Broncos, told reporters he told Payton to "get the (expletive) off the field."

In another incident, Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers and coach Mike McCarthy were caught on a hot mic exchanging profanities during their team's loss to the Cleveland Browns. McCarthy later expressed regret for his choice of words, stating, "Communication sometimes is not the best choice of words, but everybody’s competing on the field."

NFL Players Association executive director JC Tretter criticized the officials' behavior, stating, "This kind of behavior from an official towards a player is unacceptable. Players are consistently held accountable when the roles are reversed. We expect the NFL to hold officials to the same standard."

Arizona coach Mike LaFleur acknowledged the unfortunate nature of Seeman's outburst but also offered some leniency, noting, "I do want to give the man a little bit of grace, too. I know Jeff. He’s a good man. It’s unfortunate it happened. It can’t happen, obviously, and I’ll leave it at that."

Vikings coach Kevin O'Connell downplayed the incident involving Hill, describing it as a fast moment in a high-energy game, and expressed confidence in Hill's abilities as an official.
