Tiffany Compton, wife of former NFL offensive tackle Tom Compton, publicly humorously criticized her husband's career after they were not invited to the wedding of pop star Taylor Swift and NFL player Travis Kelce.
In a TikTok video that gained over one million views, Compton filmed her husband working on home improvements while the celebrity wedding took place in New York City on Friday. The video was captioned, "when your husband played for every team in the NFL except the Chiefs so we're hanging roman shades instead [of] going to a wedding."
Tom Compton had a 10-year NFL career, playing for the Washington Redskins (now Commanders), Atlanta Falcons, Chicago Bears, Minnesota Vikings, New York Jets, San Francisco 49ers, and Denver Broncos, but never for the Kansas City Chiefs, where Travis Kelce plays.
The star-studded wedding ceremony in New York City reportedly had 1,000 guests from the entertainment, music, fashion, and sports industries, including notable attendees like Bradley Cooper, Steven Spielberg, and Jay-Z. Several NFL figures were present, such as Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford and his wife Kelly, Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and his wife Brittany, and seven-time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady.
Adam Sandler served as the officiant for the ceremony. Chiefs head coach Andy Reid shared that Sandler's marriage advice to the couple was to "keep kissing" and to "do it every day, every minute that you have an opportunity to."
Kelce had a cameo in a sequel to Sandler's film "Happy Gilmore" and also hosted Sandler on his and his brother Jason's podcast, "New Heights." During the podcast appearance, Sandler spoke about Swift's positive impact on his family.
Reid confirmed that most of the Chiefs roster was invited to the wedding. However, kicker Harrison Butker was notably absent, reportedly not receiving an invitation from Kelce and Swift. Butker had previously drawn controversy for a commencement speech at Benedictine College in 2024, where he suggested women should prioritize being stay-at-home mothers over their careers and made remarks about then-President Joe Biden's stance on abortion and the LGBTQ+ community.
