NFL RedZone Host Scott Hanson Hints at Departure Beyond 2028 Season

Scott Hanson, the prominent host of NFL RedZone, has indicated that his tenure with the popular football program may conclude at the end of his current contract in 2028. Hanson, who has been the voice of the seven-hour Sunday broadcast for nearly two decades, expressed that he is open to exploring other professional avenues.

"I'm in the middle of a four-year contract right now. This is season two of a four-year contact to host NFL RedZone," Hanson told OutKick. "I love my job. I give everything I've got to RedZone. I hope I've been good for the NFL. The NFL has been good for me, but I'm not married to it."

Hanson's current contract is set to expire after the 2028 NFL season. He suggested that if he were to move to a new endeavor, he would aim for it to be successful and serve its audience effectively. "Could I go somewhere else? Sure, but we'll talk about that when it's time to talk about that. And if I were to go somewhere else, I would want that show or that endeavor to thrive in a way that it hasn't ever thrived before and to serve the audience as best as anyone in a host role can possibly serve an audience."

This potential departure comes amidst broader shifts in the NFL broadcasting landscape. Reports earlier in October suggested that ESPN has identified former NFL player Greg Olsen as a potential replacement for Troy Aikman on Monday Night Football. Aikman's current contract is also nearing its end, with his future in broadcasting uncertain beyond the upcoming Super Bowl.
