New York Post NFL handicapper Dave Blezow is offering his season-long predictions for the 2026 NFL season, building on a seven-year track record of profitable prop bets. Blezow aims to continue this success with his 2026 season preview wagers.

Defensive Player Prop Bets

Blezow has identified several player props, focusing on defensive performance. He predicts Jets rookie defensive end David Bailey will exceed 5.75 sacks. Blezow notes that the NFL's rookie sack leader in the past decade has averaged between 8.5 and 13 sacks, with Micah Parsons setting a high of 13 in 2021. Bailey's speed and power are expected to help him reach this mark, potentially aided by defensive tackle T’Vondre Sweat drawing double teams and edge rusher Will McDonald IV demanding attention. The offense's ability to score could also create more pass-rushing opportunities.

For the New York Giants, Blezow also sees potential for linebacker Arvell Reese to achieve 4+ sacks. He suggests a competitive dynamic between Bailey and Reese, as both were drafted by New York teams. Blezow posits that if Bailey performs well, the Giants might unleash Reese to generate his own sack numbers. Reese was noted rushing the passer in the Giants' preseason opener against the Vikings on August 15, 2026.

Quarterback and Division Predictions

In terms of quarterback performance, Blezow predicts Drake Maye of the New England Patriots will surpass 3,799.5 passing yards. Despite potential skepticism about the Patriots' upcoming season, Blezow points to Maye's 2025 performance of 4,394 passing yards. He also highlights the additions of A.J. Brown as a primary receiver, the reliable Romeo Doubs, and offensive lineman Alijah Vera-Tucker, along with anticipated improvements in pass protection from Will Campbell.

Blezow's divisional prediction favors the Detroit Lions to win the NFC North (+175 odds). He anticipates they will dominate the division, citing potential regressions for other teams. The Chicago Bears are unlikely to replicate their previous turnover differential, while the Green Bay Packers face challenges with the absence of key players like Parsons and Josh Jacobs. The Minnesota Vikings are considered to be in a lower tier. Blezow highlights the Lions' strong recent record, noting they achieved 27 wins over two seasons.
