NFL Power Rankings: Browns Climb Into Top 10, Vikings Retain No. 1 Spot

The Cleveland Browns, under first-year head coach Todd Monken, have emerged as one of the NFL's surprise teams, achieving a 5-2 record and sharing first place in the AFC North. This marks their first 5-2 start since 2020 and their first time holding a share of first place with that record since 1993.

Week 8 NFL Power Rankings

  1. Vikings (6-0): Blake Cashman recorded 12 tackles, two sacks, and four passes defended in a 16-10 victory over the Colts. Kyler Murray threw a decisive fourth-quarter touchdown pass, and Will Reichard added three field goals.
  2. Bills (5-1): Coming off a bye week, the Bills are averaging a league-best 32.8 points per game, with James Cook ranking among the league leaders in long rushes. The defense, led by Greg Rousseau and Deone Walker, is facing challenges defending the pass, especially on third downs.
  3. Chiefs (5-1): The Chiefs suffered a 20-3 loss to the Seahawks, marking their lowest point total with Patrick Mahomes under center. Harrison Butker missed two crucial field goals, and Mahomes was pressured 14 times.
  4. 49ers (6-1): A four-turnover performance against the Falcons contributed to a 29-20 loss. Christian McCaffrey was limited by a thigh injury, and Brock Purdy's late interception sealed the defeat.
  5. Broncos (5-2): Denver secured a 30-16 win over the Cardinals, highlighted by a 62-yard touchdown run from Bo Nix and a 52-yard screen pass touchdown by RJ Harvey. The defense registered 12 quarterback hits and three sacks.
  6. Bears (5-2): Caleb Williams threw for 308 yards and two touchdowns, supported by a rushing touchdown from D'Andre Swift. Cairo Santos' career-long 58-yard field goal with 37 seconds remaining clinched a 30-24 victory over the Patriots.
  7. Steelers (5-2): A dominant defensive effort limited the Saints to 18 rushing yards in a 16-10 win. Payton Wilson's third-quarter red zone interception was a key play. Jaylen Warren contributed 101 rushing yards, and Aaron Rodgers threw a touchdown pass.
  8. Bengals (4-2): Joe Burrow's four second-half touchdown passes led to a 35-13 victory over the Ravens, who became the first team in 76 years to blow a 13-point halftime lead and lose by at least 20. Tee Higgins led receivers with 148 yards.
  9. Seahawks (4-3): Emanuel Wilson rushed for 100 yards, and the defense held former teammate Kenneth Walker to 36 rushing yards in a win against the Chiefs. Sam Darnold overcame an interception to pass for 257 yards and a touchdown.
  10. Browns (5-2): Deshaun Watson led his fifth game-winning fourth-quarter drive of the season, setting up Andre Szmyt's walk-off 32-yard field goal in a 27-24 win against the Titans. Watson recorded his first 300-yard passing game with the Browns, throwing for 308 yards and a touchdown.

The rankings also feature the Jaguars (4-2), Patriots (4-3), Lions (4-2), Packers (4-3), and Giants (4-2-1) rounding out the top 15. The Giants' 27-21 overtime win against the Texans saw four different players score rushing touchdowns, a feat not achieved by the team since 1950. J.J. McCarthy passed for 252 yards in his first start for New York.

Lower in the rankings are the Ravens (4-3), Rams (3-4), Falcons (3-4), Cowboys (3-4), Raiders (3-4), Panthers (3-3), Texans (2-5), Saints (2-5), Eagles (2-5), Buccaneers (2-5), Cardinals (2-5), and Colts (2-5). The Dolphins (1-5) and Jets (2-5) also feature, with the Jets' Aaron Glenn experiencing another clock-management issue in a loss to the Dolphins.

The bottom of the rankings includes the Commanders (1-4-1), Titans (1-6), and Chargers (0-6).
