NFL Official Caught on Camera Using Profanity Towards Player
Arizona Cardinals tight end Trey McBride was on the receiving end of a profanity-laced tirade from line judge Jeff Seeman during a recent game.
An on-field exchange between Arizona Cardinals tight end Trey McBride and line judge Jeff Seeman has gone viral after CBS cameras captured the official uttering profanity towards the player. The incident occurred during the fourth quarter of the Cardinals' Week 4 loss to the New York Giants at MetLife Stadium.
McBride appeared to be questioning a non-call by Seeman when the line judge was audibly heard telling the player, "f*** you" multiple times. Rather than react with anger, McBride reportedly pointed to the sideline camera, seemingly amused that the exchange was caught on broadcast.
The play resulted in a five-yard penalty against the Cardinals. Their subsequent possession ended with a punt, and the Giants went on to extend their lead with a field goal. The Giants secured their victory with an interception returned for a touchdown as time expired.
It remains unclear whether the NFL will take disciplinary action against Seeman. The Daily Mail has reached out to the league for comment.
Fans on social media quickly reacted to the incident, with many criticizing the official's conduct. "We have a zebra issue," one user wrote on X, referring to the striped uniforms worn by referees. "They have become an invasive species."
John Sigler, a reporter for The Saints Wire, provided context on Seeman's officiating career. "Jeff Seeman should behave better than this," Sigler posted on X. "He's been working NFL games as a line judge since 2002. His father was Jerry Seeman, who refereed NFL games for 16 years before accepting a promotion to senior director of officiating in the league's head office."
Seeman has been an NFL official since 2002. His father, Jerry Seeman, served as a referee for 16 seasons before moving into an administrative role with the league.
In Sunday's game, McBride recorded seven catches for 31 yards on 12 targets. For the season, the All-Pro tight end has accumulated 26 receptions for 211 yards and two touchdowns.
