NFL Fans Blame Trump for Giants Quarterback Jaxson Dart's Season-Ending Injury

New York Giants fans have directed blame towards former President Donald Trump following the season-ending injury of quarterback Jaxson Dart. Dart, 23, sustained damage to his left MCL, PCL, and meniscus earlier this week and was officially ruled out for the remainder of the regular NFL season on Wednesday.
Giants coach John Harbaugh confirmed that surgery is considered the best option for Dart's recovery. The quarterback's injury has led some fans to resurface comments made by Trump about Dart during a Republican rally in Suffern, New York, on May 22. During the event, Trump remarked on Dart's physique, stating, "I’m looking at the legs there. He's this beautiful guy. He's got legs like tree trunks."
A clip of this comment gained traction on social media after Dart's injury, with many users attributing the quarterback's misfortune to a "Trump Curse." One fan posted on X, "This was the moment I decided not to draft Dart in fantasy football. He had no chance this season after the Trump Curse." Another comment read, "When Giants fans want to find a reason why this happened to them. Remember Jaxson dart did this. The TRUMP CURSE IS REAL."
Earlier this year, Trump had named the New York Giants among his three Super Bowl contenders, citing his admiration for Dart. "I like their quarterback a lot," Trump had said.
Dart's appearance at the rally had previously caused a stir within the Giants organization, with defensive player Abdul Carter publicly questioning the quarterback's decision to introduce Trump. While both players addressed the controversy at the time, neither fully retracted their stance but emphasized that political differences would not affect the team dynamic.
The concept of a "Trump Curse" has become a recurring theme among some sports fans online. Notable instances cited include Trump's attendance at Game 3 of the NBA Finals, where the Knicks lost, and his involvement during the World Cup, following which the USMNT was eliminated after a significant loss to Belgium.
