NFL Coaches Fined for Conduct Toward Officials
Three NFL head coaches, including the Patriots' Mike Vrabel, the Jets' Aaron Glenn, and the Eagles' Nick Sirianni, have been fined $250,000 each for their behavior towards game officials.
The National Football League has fined three head coaches $250,000 each for their conduct toward game officials, according to a report by Sports Illustrated. The coaches affected are Mike Vrabel of the New England Patriots, Aaron Glenn of the New York Jets, and Nick Sirianni of the Philadelphia Eagles.
The fines are being held in abeyance, which means they can be waived if the coaches maintain good behavior for the remainder of the season. The report does not specify whether the fines stem from isolated incidents or a pattern of behavior.
This disciplinary action comes as the league aims to curb distractions related to interactions between coaches and officials. In a separate incident earlier in the season, the NFL also disciplined two officials. Line judge Jeff Seeman was fined for allegedly using profanity towards Arizona Cardinals tight end Trey McBride. Referee Adrian Hill was suspended for one game for unprofessional conduct towards Minnesota Vikings linebacker Eric Wilson after Wilson was involved in an incidental collision with Hill and Wilson attempted to help the referee up.
