NFL Bans 49ers CEO Jed York for Six Games, Fines Him $500,000 After Prostitution Sting Arrest

The National Football League has suspended San Francisco 49ers CEO Jed York for six games and levied a $500,000 fine following his arrest in August on a charge of attempting to solicit a prostitute. The league determined that York violated the NFL's Personal Conduct Policy.

In his first public statement since the incident, York apologized to his family, the 49ers organization, and the team's fans. "This was an inexcusable mistake and I take full responsibility," York said in a statement. "What I did does not reflect my values or the man I strive to be for my family. While I fell short of the model I want to set for my sons, I now hope to show them the importance of owning up to one's failures, and that even our worst moments teach us to be better."

He added, "Leading the 49ers is a privilege, and one I don't take lightly. Your trust will have to be earned back over time, and I look forward to that work ahead."

York, 46, was arrested in East Palestine, Ohio. He had reportedly been keeping a distance from the team during a challenging period that also included injury conspiracy theories and an unexplained car crash involving head coach Kyle Shanahan.
