Newlyweds Pulled Over on Wedding Night After Cop Jokes About Warrant

A California couple's wedding night took a shocking turn when a police officer pulled them over shortly after their ceremony, only to reveal the stop was a humorous prank.
Kara Lewis Webb and West Webb were driving away from their wedding reception in Athens, Tennessee, when they noticed flashing lights in their rearview mirror.
"Within five minutes, we saw the blue and red lights flashing in the rearview mirror," Kara told PEOPLE. "Initially, I assumed we were getting pulled over for a missing headlight or maybe an issue with our tags. But no, apparently it was much worse."
In a video that later went viral, the officer approached the couple and asked if they had ever been to California. After the groom confirmed they had, the officer inquired if they had an unpaid speeding ticket there, claiming he had a warrant for the groom's arrest.
"Are you serious?" the groom responded. The officer then revealed he was joking, stating, "I got jokes."
He let the newlyweds off with a warning to slow down, wishing them a good night.
The bride, who is a photographer, videographer, and influencer, mentioned that the prank was believable because their vehicle has a California license plate. She expressed gratitude that the officer "lightened the mood almost immediately."
"Of all the ways we could have ended our wedding night, this was certainly not one we saw coming," Kara told PEOPLE.
Despite the unusual end to their celebration, Kara described the wedding as a "fairytale" that "could not have gone more perfect."
The couple indicated they would be open to taking the officer out to lunch. The wedding night incident is a story they plan to recount for years to come.
