Newcastle Manager Matthias Jaissle's Future Under Scrutiny Amidst Injury Concerns and Transfer Rumors
Sources indicate support for head coach Matthias Jaissle despite team performance, as Tino Livramento faces a knee injury and transfer plans are being discussed.
Sources close to Newcastle United have indicated ongoing support for head coach Matthias Jaissle, despite questions surrounding the team's performance and his tactical approach. "Everything I’ve had back in the past week or so from sources in and around the club has been in support of head coach Matthias Jaissle," reported Craig Hope in a Q&A session.
Despite this backing, the team faces challenges, including a recent knee injury sustained by Tino Livramento. The club is exercising caution given Livramento's history of significant knee problems. "Confidential can exclusively reveal that Tino Livramento has suffered a knee injury. Given his history of significant knee problems, the club are understandably cautious," Hope stated.

On a more positive note, Anthony Elanga is nearing full fitness and is expected to be available for the upcoming match against Crystal Palace on Sunday. "But it's good news on Anthony Elanga (right), who is pushing to be involved at Crystal Palace on Sunday," Hope added.

Regarding transfer plans for January, there is a prevailing sentiment within the club that they may not need to acquire additional striking talent, with players like Matias Fernandez-Pardo already at the club. "With the likes of Matias Fernandez-Pardo (right) at the club there is a feeling Newcastle do not need to go and buy another striker," the report stated.

Concerns about Jaissle's team performance have been voiced, although mitigation is considered. "I don’t think Jaissle's team is playing well at all, but there is mitigation," said Hope, referencing comments from sources.

The club had previously considered candidates such as former Ipswich manager Kieran McKenna, but sources indicate they were set on Jaissle. Sporting director Ross Wilson's initial meeting with Jaissle reportedly convinced him of the German's suitability.
