New York Woman Sentenced to Life for Drugging and Murdering Three Men

Tabitha Bundrick, 39, has been sentenced to 27 years to life in prison for the drugging and murder of three men in New York City. The sentence was handed down Tuesday in a Lower Manhattan courtroom after Bundrick pleaded guilty to killing Mario Paullan, 42, Miguel Navez, 39, and Abrihan Fernandez, 34, between 2023 and 2024. Prosecutors characterized her actions as a "deliberate and repetitive scheme" to drug and rob her victims.

During the sentencing, the victims' families delivered emotional impact statements. Brigida Rodriguez, Fernandez's mother, speaking through a translator, expressed her grief and anger directly to Bundrick, who showed little emotion and avoided eye contact. Rodriguez recounted how she was wearing her son's class ring, which Bundrick had attempted to take after his death.

Fernandez was Bundrick's final victim in February 2024. He was followed by Bundrick from the street, and after she entered his apartment, he was given a lethal dose of fentanyl. Assistant District Attorney Dafna Yoran stated that Bundrick was later seen removing "huge bags of Mr. Fernandez's property" from his apartment. His widow, Natalie, described his death as the "most painful chapters" of her life, emphasizing the void left by his loss.

The pattern of murder and robbery was also evident in the deaths of Paullan and Navez. Paullan and a friend were approached by Bundrick in April 2023, under the pretense of selling soap, and lured to an abandoned apartment. There, they were given what Bundrick claimed was cocaine but was laced with fentanyl. Paullan's friend awoke to find him dead, with his belongings stolen. Paullan's daughter, Eileen, tearfully told the court that life had lost its laughter since her father's death. His sister, Veronica, urged the judge to impose the maximum sentence to ensure Bundrick never saw the street again.

Navez was killed in September 2023 in his Washington Heights apartment after receiving fentanyl-laced drugs from Bundrick. His body was discovered by his brother three days later, with numerous possessions missing. Navez's brother testified that his brother had brought happiness to their family, a sentiment that would never be the same.

Investigators arrested Bundrick on March 5, discovering four pairs of the victims' sneakers in her home. During the proceedings, prosecutors noted Bundrick's apparent lack of responsibility for her actions. However, Bundrick addressed the court, apologizing for her actions and attributing them to a severe drug addiction. "I was suffering from a drug addiction that caused me to make bad decisions," she stated, adding, "I am taking full responsibility for my actions."

Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg Jr. commented on the case, stating, "Tabitha Bundrick's absolutely callous conduct has left three devastated families." He expressed hope that the prison sentence would offer some measure of healing.

Judge Kyu Paek sentenced Bundrick to three concurrent 25-to-life sentences for the murder charges, along with an additional consecutive two-year sentence for an assault charge. The judge acknowledged that no sentence could bring back the victims but expressed hope that the sentencing would provide closure.
