New York Woman Charged in Boyfriend's Fatal Stabbing
The suspect told police she acted in self-defense during an assault.
A Brooklyn woman has been charged with manslaughter after allegedly fatally stabbing her boyfriend during an altercation in her East Flatbush apartment on Saturday morning.
Jennifer Ayala, 36, was arrested and charged with first-degree manslaughter and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon. The incident occurred around 6:50 a.m. at her residence on Linden Boulevard.
According to police, Ayala told investigators that she stabbed Pedersin Pelissier, 36, in the chest because he "would not stop hitting her." She stated she grabbed a knife and "poked" Pelissier while he was attacking her, indicating an act of self-defense.
Authorities discovered Pelissier with two stab wounds. He was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead approximately one hour later.
Ayala was arraigned on Sunday. Prosecutors requested she be remanded into custody, but she was released on her own recognizance, according to a representative from the District Attorney's office.
