The New York Post Media Group has introduced Hamilton, a new AI-powered tool integrated into its mobile applications, designed to offer a more personalized and conversational news experience. The free-to-use service aims to allow users to interact with The Post's content in a manner similar to chatting with a friend.
Powered by Google's Gemini technology, Hamilton offers a suite of features including conversational search, personalized news digests, tailored content recommendations, and intelligent notifications. This launch comes as the publication prepares to mark its 225th anniversary.
Named after Alexander Hamilton, the founder of The New York Post in 1801, the tool reflects the company's ongoing commitment to evolving news consumption methods. "For nearly 225 years, The Post has evolved alongside the way people consume news, from print presses to smartphones and now to AI," said Sean Giancola, Chief Executive Officer of New York Post Media Group. "Hamilton is the next evolution of that journey, creating a more personalized and conversational way for readers to discover, understand and engage with our journalism."
The Hamilton AI tool is rolling out across The New York Post and The California Post apps. It features an AI-driven conversational search that transforms reporting into an interactive dialogue, allowing readers to ask questions, explore developing stories with follow-up prompts, and receive sourced answers and related coverage.
Additionally, the update includes "Post Express," an AI-powered news briefing that provides personalized digests throughout the day based on user interests. A personalized discovery engine continuously learns from reader behavior to surface relevant stories and topics.
The integration also highlights The Post's columnists and contributors through a feature called "Post Voices," which presents key quotes and insights. The company emphasizes that Hamilton will make each user's app experience unique.
"Readers don’t want more noise, they want more relevance and The Post has always been at its best when it meets readers where they are," stated Keith Poole, editor-in-chief of New York Post Media Group. "Today, that means building experiences that help audiences discover, understand and engage with our journalism in entirely new ways."
Ariscielle Novicio, Chief Technology Officer of New York Post Media Group, noted that Hamilton was developed by rethinking the modern news experience. "Working with Google Cloud and leveraging Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform, we built a platform that can understand reader interests, personalize experiences in real time and create more intuitive ways to discover journalism," Novicio said. "Our goal wasn’t simply to add AI features. It was to make The Post smarter, more engaging and more relevant for every individual reader."
Google Cloud's president of North America, Michael Clark, commented that The New York Post Media Group is establishing a new standard for publishing by using AI to deliver deeply personalized experiences while prioritizing reader privacy and control.
Users can download Hamilton by searching for "The New York Post" or "The California Post" on the App Store or Google Play Store. After installation, users can sign up with their email and activate Hamilton via an icon in the app's tab bar to begin accessing its features.
