New York Man Pleads Guilty to Murdering, Dismembering Ex-Girlfriend

Damon Foy, 50, has pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in the death of his ex-girlfriend, Alberta Dale, 44. The Ulster County District Attorney's Office confirmed that Foy murdered Dale between March 31 and April 1, 2024, shortly after she ended their relationship. Dale had previously told authorities that if she went missing, Foy was responsible.

Authorities began investigating Dale as a missing person on April 1, 2024, after concerned family members in Pennsylvania contacted law enforcement. A welfare check at Dale's home revealed she was not present. Investigators found Dale's car parked outside Foy's apartment, despite an active restraining order that prohibited Foy from contacting her.

Foy initially told police that Dale had stolen his car and left town. However, the investigation took a grim turn when a lost phone belonging to Dale was found and turned in to police the following day. Officers returned to Foy's apartment, where they discovered a suitcase with dried blood on it. Foy reportedly resisted police attempts to examine the suitcase, offering an explanation for the blood that investigators found unclear.

Inside the suitcase, police discovered Dale's severed head and a flower. During an interview, Foy expressed resentment toward Dale, stating she had "played me like a sucker" throughout their relationship. Dismembered remains identified as Dale's were also found in a dumpster in Marlborough, New York.

Ulster County District Attorney Emmanuel C. Nneji described the case as an example of the "evil of domestic violence" and Foy's "total selfish disregard for the life and dignity of another person."

Foy has a history of domestic violence, including charges of assaulting and strangling Dale in January 2024. At the time of her murder, he was out on $5,000 bail and had violated an active order of protection. Court records also indicate prior convictions, including conspiracy charges in 1994 and slashing his uncle in 2014.

Foy is currently being held at Ulster County jail. He is scheduled for sentencing on December 16, 2026, in Ulster County Court. The plea agreement will be finalized after the sentencing.
