New York Man Pleads Guilty to Murder, Dismemberment of Ex-Girlfriend
Damon Foy admitted to killing Alberta Dale and keeping her severed head in a suitcase, telling investigators she had 'played me like a sucker.'
A New York man has pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in the death of his ex-girlfriend, Alberta Dale. Damon Foy, 50, of Kerhonkson, admitted to killing and dismembering Dale, then placing her severed head in a suitcase.
Authorities began investigating on April 1, 2024, after Dale's family in Pennsylvania reported her missing. Deputies conducted a welfare check at Foy's apartment and found Dale's car. The following day, after a member of the public found Dale's phone and turned it in, investigators suspected foul play and returned to question Foy.
According to court documents, Foy confessed to investigators at his home, stating, "She's in there. I killed her." A subsequent search warrant for the apartment revealed a suitcase in a closet containing dismembered remains, including Dale's head. Investigators noted dried blood on the suitcase.
During an interview, Foy reportedly told investigators he believed Dale had "played me like a fool, play me like a sucker" throughout their relationship. He also stated he was told to leave his own home and that "it all started coming clearer to me."
Dale had previously warned authorities that "if she went missing it was because [Foy] killed her." Court documents indicate Foy had a history of domestic violence against Dale, including a previous incident involving a gun. An axe was also observed at Foy's property during the search.
Foy is expected to receive a sentence of 23 years to life in prison under a plea agreement that was reportedly supported by Dale's family. He is scheduled to be sentenced on December 16.
