A man was killed in Brooklyn on Saturday when a tree fell on him as a nor'easter intensified along the Atlantic Coast. The 56-year-old victim sustained severe injuries when high winds toppled the tree near 700 Euclid Avenue in East New York around 3:30 p.m., according to police.
He was transported to Brookdale Hospital in critical condition and was pronounced dead shortly after 5 p.m., authorities reported.
Wind gusts reached up to 60 mph on Saturday, with forecasts predicting speeds as high as 80 mph in some areas on Sunday as the storm system continues its progression.
