New York Man Arrested for Allegedly Pushing Girlfriend and Baby Off Balcony

Angel Carrasco, 31, was arrested by US Marshals and NYPD officers on Wednesday in connection with the death of Nathaly Ramirez, 23, and the critical injury of their eight-month-old daughter.

Authorities allege Carrasco pushed Ramirez and their infant daughter, also named Angel, from the 15th floor of an apartment building in the Bronx early Tuesday. Residents reported hearing a man's voice shouting "Jump!" followed by a loud thud and a woman's cries.

Ramirez and her baby were found seriously injured and transported to a hospital, where doctors pronounced Ramirez dead. The infant remains in critical condition.

Carrasco was reportedly taken into custody while smirking and rocking his head from side to side. He had allegedly gone to Ramirez's apartment to attempt to reconcile their relationship, but a confrontation ensued when she rejected his advances. Carrasco fled the scene after the incident, leaving behind a bouquet of flowers.

US Marshal Ricky J. Patel stated, "This horrific tragedy weighs heavily on every team member who worked this case. We owed it to the brave mother who gave her life to save her child from a vicious individual."

Carrasco's arrest has also highlighted a history of alleged domestic violence involving Ramirez. Law enforcement sources indicated that the couple had been involved in two domestic incidents earlier this year. On January 5, Carrasco was accused of slapping Ramirez. Three days later, he was arrested again after allegedly breaking into Ramirez's apartment. He also reportedly has a record including arrests in 2016 for false impersonation and marijuana possession.

Friends remembered Ramirez as a devoted mother whose priority was her child. A makeshift memorial with candles, flowers, and a photograph of Ramirez has been established outside the apartment building.
