A New York grandmother visiting Las Vegas has been reported missing, and her family has since received troubling text messages from her phone demanding money, including for Bitcoin.

Alisa Goods, 63, was last seen on August 8. She was reported missing on August 10, according to her family and a missing person report obtained by KLAS-TV. Goods was staying with a friend, Roger John, and was last seen leaving his apartment around 12:45 p.m. on August 8. Her stated intention was to take a bus to a nearby CVS to purchase iron pills.

"Last I saw her, she was going down the stairs. And I said, ‘OK, see you later,’ And that’s the last time I saw her," John told KLAS-TV. He initially was not concerned, as Goods sometimes spent extended periods shopping. However, after she failed to return and was unreachable by phone, he contacted her family.

Goods' niece, Alana Calloway, stated that the disappearance is uncharacteristic of her aunt, emphasizing that "She has a family that loves her, cares about her. We want her home and want her home safe and alive."

On August 12, Goods' family began receiving text messages from her phone. The messages reportedly requested gas money and Bitcoin. Calloway found these requests suspicious, noting that Goods does not drive and did not have a car in Las Vegas. "I said, ‘What do you need gas for? The car?’ My aunt does not drive. There is no car," Calloway told CBS News.

The family has raised the possibility that Goods may have been kidnapped, given that someone else appears to be communicating from her phone. "If they have her phone, there's a possibility that they have her," Calloway said. "I want to know that she's OK and that she is alive."

Family members have checked local hospitals, jails, and the coroner's office without finding any trace of Goods. Her daughter, Kristen, has traveled to Las Vegas to assist in the search efforts. "I am hoping to God for the best, but my heart can't take what it could be, which is the worst," Kristen Goods told KLAS-TV.

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department confirmed to CBS News that Goods' missing person case is active and urged anyone with information to contact investigators. Fox News Digital reached out to the LVMPD for comment but did not immediately receive a response.
