New Streaming Releases This Week Include 'East of Eden' Series, Quavo's Album

New entertainment options are arriving this week, with a limited series adaptation of John Steinbeck's "East of Eden" and a new album from rapper Quavo among the notable releases.

Netflix premieres its seven-episode adaptation of "East of Eden" on Thursday, Oct. 1. Florence Pugh stars as Cathy Ames in the series, which is written and executive produced by Zoe Kazan. Kazan, granddaughter of Elia Kazan, who directed the 1955 film version, stated her adaptation offers a more complete telling of the story, with a deeper focus on Pugh's character. Christopher Abbott and Mike Faist portray brothers Adam and Charles Trask.

Rapper Quavo will release his new album, "QRÖMELIFE," on Friday, Oct. 2. The album is executive produced by Pharrell Williams. Quavo's previous work includes his involvement with the group Migos and solo projects.

Other notable releases include:

• "Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma," directed by Jane Schoenbrun, is available Friday, Oct. 2, on Mubi. The film, which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival, stars Hannah Einbinder.
• Wynonna Judd's first new album in a decade, "The Hard Truth," is also set for release.
• The documentary "The Last First: Winter K2," chronicling the first team to attempt a winter ascent of K2 in 2001, will be available on Apple TV on Friday, Oct. 2.
• The Austin City Limits Festival will stream its first weekend, Oct. 2-4, via Disney+ and Hulu.
• AMC+ will debut the thriller series "Kill Jackie," starring Catherine Zeta-Jones as a former international drug smuggler. The series premieres Friday, Oct. 2.
• Starz will release "Tip Toe," a five-episode drama written by Russell T. Davies, on Friday, Oct. 2.
• Tubi's horror anthology "Bite Size Terror" drops all episodes on Friday, Oct. 2.

In gaming, "Minecraft Dungeons II" is released Tuesday for Xbox X/S, PlayStation 5, Switch, and PC. The game expands the Minecraft universe into a new dimension called the Sift.

Additionally, "Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve" launches Friday, Oct. 2, for Xbox X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC. The game continues the aerial combat series in Bandai Namco's alternate-universe Earth.
