New Series Questions Timeline of Golden State Killer Joseph DeAngelo's Crimes
A Fox Nation docuseries examines previously unseen evidence and testimony, suggesting Joseph DeAngelo's violent activities may have extended beyond previously established periods.
A new docuseries is challenging the established timeline of Joseph DeAngelo's crimes, raising questions about whether the man known as the Golden State Killer committed more offenses than officially recorded. The four-part series, "Golden State Killer: Unmasking a Monster," utilizes exclusive testimony and evidence not previously seen to explore DeAngelo's violent past.
Authorities identified DeAngelo as the Visalia Ransacker, the East Area Rapist, and the Golden State Killer. He was arrested in 2018 at the age of 72, following an investigation that utilized genealogy websites. In 2020, DeAngelo pleaded guilty to 50 counts of rape and 13 counts of murder. However, Anne Marie Schubert, who formerly served as the Sacramento County district attorney, stated that there is a "high likelihood" DeAngelo committed more crimes than have ever been known.
The series re-examines evidence related to the murders of two teenage girls and investigates whether DeAngelo may have framed others to avoid capture. It also delves into his more than 50 attacks as the East Area Rapist and his transition to a serial killer.
Further episodes explore DeAngelo's potential involvement in unsolved cases, including those of Donna Richmond and Bess Snelling. One survivor recounts a violent rape experienced at age 12, while another individual believes their mother was a victim of DeAngelo.
The final part of the series addresses the question of whether DeAngelo's criminal activities ceased in 1986 or if he continued to commit rapes and murders for more than three decades before his arrest.
