As celebrations erupted for Spain's World Cup final victory, a restaurant in West Orange, New Jersey, provided sustenance for the champions. Bagels by Jarrett received an order for several dozen pizzas from the Spanish team shortly after their win on Sunday, the shop reported.
Restaurant owner Jarrett Seltzer told ABC 7 that the order included buffalo chicken, pepperoni, and margherita pizzas, as well as some gluten-free options. A video shared by ABC showed a delivery driver using a luggage cart to transport 46 pizzas to the team's hotel.
"This has got to be the peak. I don’t see it getting any better than this," Seltzer said of feeding the victorious Spanish team. He also noted that his restaurant had previously served Norway's national team after their win against Brazil in the Round of 16.
Seltzer shared that the significant order came after months of perfecting his pizza dough recipe. He explained on Instagram that the dough was finally perfected the weekend of the World Cup final, following a period of intense frustration. "Months and months of frustration were over, the method and recipe were perfect and were saved," he wrote in a caption. "An hour later [Spain’s] pizza order came in. Hard work pays off. Champions are eating our pizza tonight."
Following their celebratory meal, the Spanish team departed for Newark Liberty International Airport around 2 a.m. ET. They landed in Madrid the following afternoon, where they were met by a large crowd of fans during a parade celebrating their victory.
