New Jersey Mother Died of 'Sharp Force Injuries' in Home Where Infant Was Present
Autopsy report indicates Brooke Hanlon sustained fatal injuries; investigation is ongoing with no arrests made.
A wealthy New Jersey mother died from sharp force injuries in her home, where her infant daughter was also found unharmed, according to an autopsy report. Brooke Hanlon, 35, was discovered unresponsive with stab wounds on June 6 in her Chester residence by her husband, Conor Hanlon, 36.
The autopsy report, obtained by NorthJersey.com, states Hanlon died of 'sharp force injuries,' though specific details about her injuries were redacted. A 911 call revealed the mother had a 'laceration' on her body, and her husband was instructed to perform CPR.
No arrests have been made in connection with Brooke Hanlon's death, and her husband has denied any involvement. "Of course not," Conor Hanlon told the Daily Mail when asked about his role. "It's a tragedy. My heart is totally shattered."
A law enforcement source familiar with the investigation told the Daily Mail that detectives are analyzing evidence or a lead. "They do have something, and they're trying to work it out," the source said, indicating that DNA is among the forensic elements being examined. The Morris County Prosecutor's Office has stated there is no update and the investigation remains open.
Conor Hanlon, who initially told police he found his wife stabbed and the home in disarray, has been seen commuting more frequently to the home he shared with his wife and infant daughter, Avery.
Investigators have not released details regarding whether a murder weapon was recovered, if there was evidence of forced entry, or if they believe Brooke Hanlon knew her killer. Authorities have also not clarified if they suspect another individual entered the house while Conor Hanlon was reportedly away on an errand around the time of the incident. The home is located in a heavily wooded area near Hacklebarney State Park.
