For 25 years, an ordinary New Jersey train station parking lot has held an extraordinary reminder of the lives lost on September 11, 2001. In Middletown Township, 37 residents were killed in the attacks, the largest loss of life from any community outside of New York City's five boroughs. The cars these individuals left behind in the train station's parking lot became a poignant symbol of the nearly 3,000 people who departed for work that morning and never returned.

A memorial garden now stands beside the station, serving as a tribute to the victims. It features a monument and individual photographs honoring each of the 37 residents lost. This garden continues to keep the memories of those who never came home alive for the community.
