Authorities in Somerville, New Jersey, have arrested Ignacio Espinal, 55, in connection with the fatal stabbing of his wife, Alyne Espinal, 46. He faces first-degree murder charges.

Police responded to a 911 call on Thursday evening reporting concerns for Alyne Espinal's welfare at her Brookside Avenue residence. Officers discovered her inside with multiple lacerations to her chest, neck, and thigh. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators arrested Ignacio Espinal on Tuesday in West New York, New Jersey.

The Somerset County Prosecutor's Office stated that the investigation is ongoing and information is preliminary as investigators interview witnesses and analyze evidence. Ignacio Espinal is also charged with third-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and third-degree hindering.

This homicide occurred approximately 15 miles from Chester, where Brooke Hanlon, 35, was found stabbed to death in her home on June 6. The Morris County case remains unsolved. Alyne Espinal was found dead on August 6, exactly two months after Hanlon's death. The key distinction between the two cases is the swift arrest made in the Espinal case.

Conor Hanlon, Brooke Hanlon's husband, who has not been accused of any wrongdoing, previously worked for a construction contractor in Somerville, less than a mile from the Espinal residence.
