Developers have released new images of the Anagram apartment tower, a 20-story building under construction along Brooklyn's Gowanus Canal. The project at 450 Union St. will feature 158 rental units, along with retail and office spaces.

The Anagram tower is part of a larger development boom in the Gowanus neighborhood, which has seen significant revitalization since the city rezoned 82 blocks in the area. The rezoning effort aimed to transform the once-polluted industrial waterway into a more scenic and residential centerpiece. In 2025 alone, a record 4,000 new residential units were created, with projections for a total of 9,000 units eventually.

The Anagram project, a collaboration between Global Holdings, MacArthur Holdings, and Brooklyn-based Tankhouse, is designed by architectural firm SO-IL. The development will also include a publicly accessible waterfront esplanade and approximately 22,000 square feet of commercial and community space.

Leasing for the Anagram apartments is scheduled to commence in early 2027. The development represents a significant investment in the neighborhood's ongoing transformation from an industrial zone to a mixed-use residential area.
