A new £21 million health and wellbeing hub has opened in Newhaven, bringing together primary care, community wellbeing, and leisure services into a single location. The initiative aims to create an environment where healthcare, wellbeing, and community services are delivered collaboratively, serving more than 15,000 local residents.
The hub will offer over 5,500 appointments monthly, reinforcing the message that general practitioners are available to support community health. Dr. Paul Moore, a GP at Quayside Medical Practice, emphasized the importance of encouraging healthy lifestyles and stated the new facility will underscore the availability of GP support.
Allison Cannon, chief nursing officer for NHS Sussex and Surrey, highlighted that the hub will make accessing support easier for residents, providing services closer to home and at convenient times. She described the facility as an example of the neighborhood approach desired across Surrey and Sussex, where health services, local partners, and communities unite to promote wellness, address health inequalities, and support healthier lives.
The development represents a significant milestone in integrating various health and community services to better serve the Newhaven population.
