Newly obtained video evidence could challenge long-standing denials by Omar al-Bayoumi, a man central to lawsuits alleging Saudi Arabian complicity in the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. The footage reportedly shows al-Bayoumi engaging in activities such as paintballing with a future leader of al-Qaeda and having extensive ties to Saudi government officials.
This evidence is part of ongoing legal actions brought by families of 9/11 victims, who contend that Saudi Arabia played a role in the attacks and that al-Bayoumi provided assistance to two of the hijackers. Al-Bayoumi has maintained for 25 years that he was neither an extremist nor a Saudi spy.
Neither al-Bayoumi nor the Saudi government have responded to requests for comment from the BBC. The FBI also declined to comment on the matter.
