Nevada Woman Recounts Traumatic Dog Attack That Ripped Off Her Nose
Shayna Crimo shares her harrowing experience after her dog, King, bit her nose while she was leaning in to kiss him goodnight.
A Nevada woman is recounting a terrifying incident in which her dog bit off the tip of her nose. Shayna Crimo, 32, was leaning in to kiss her sleeping dog, King, goodnight when the animal unexpectedly attacked, causing a severe injury.
The incident, which occurred rapidly, left Crimo screaming in pain and disbelief. She described the assault as happening "within the snap of a finger."
"When he bit, I screamed and he let go and ran away immediately," Crimo told TLC for an episode of "ER: Caught on Camera." "I looked at myself and I just screamed. I knew that I got bit and that it was bad."
Crimo was taken by ambulance to an emergency room where the wound was flushed with saline to prevent infection. Emergency physician Dr. J Mack Slaughter noted that such incidents are not uncommon, stating he sees similar injuries on nearly every shift. He added that most dog bite victims he treats were attacked by their own pets or a friend's dog.
