Nevada State Sen. Carrie Buck, a Republican, has announced her candidacy for Nevada's 1st Congressional District, aiming to unseat eight-term Democratic incumbent Dina Titus. Buck, who previously flipped a Democrat-leaning state senate district in 2020, believes voters are ready for a change in leadership in the urban Las Vegas-based district.

Buck, a former teacher and principal with three decades of experience in the Nevada education system, cited her background as a key to understanding the electorate. She stated that her experience has given her insight into the needs of Nevadans and positions her to be effective in Washington.

Housing affordability is a central theme of Buck's campaign. She has pledged to work towards ensuring lower-cost housing options for Nevadans and to drive down interest rates to make homeownership more accessible. Buck also linked the current housing affordability issues to immigration policies enacted during the Biden administration, suggesting that an increase in the number of people entering the country has driven up the cost of low-income housing.
