Nets Rejected Jaylen Brown Trade to Avoid 'Kyrie Irving Situation,' Source Says
Brooklyn's front office reportedly declined to pursue a deal for the star player due to past issues with Kyrie Irving and owner Joe Tsai.
The Brooklyn Nets did not pursue a trade for Jaylen Brown, reportedly to avoid repeating past tensions experienced with Kyrie Irving and owner Joe Tsai. A source indicated that the Nets "shut it down altogether" when the possibility of acquiring Brown arose.
Brown was involved in a significant trade that altered the Eastern Conference landscape, ultimately landing with the Philadelphia 76ers alongside LeBron James, Joel Embiid, and Tyrese Maxey. However, before this move, Brooklyn had the opportunity to acquire the player, but declined.
"They weren’t lowballing," the source told the New York Post. "They just shut it down altogether. They just said, ‘We’re not interested.’ " The decision appears to stem from Brooklyn's prior experiences, which led them to not even entertain the idea of a trade for Brown, despite his potential impact on the team.
