Nets Dominated by Pacers in Significant Home Loss

The Brooklyn Nets suffered a decisive 136-109 loss to the Indiana Pacers at Barclays Center, marking a dispiriting home performance.

The game, which concluded a back-to-back stretch for the Nets, saw them outplayed significantly by a Pacers team that struggled to find offensive rhythm early on but eventually overwhelmed Brooklyn.

Brooklyn's offense faltered, shooting just 41% from the field and a mere 13-of-39 from three-point range. Key scorers Julius Randle, Michael Porter Jr., and Egor Dëmin, who had been averaging double digits, combined for only 23 points on inefficient shooting. Porter Jr. was notably blocked at the rim by Indiana's Jay Huff, a moment that underscored the team's offensive struggles. The trio finished with a combined plus-minus of -50.

Indiana's performance was highlighted by Tyrese Haliburton, who scored 24 points and was a plus-29. A particularly demoralizing sequence occurred when Haliburton executed a breakaway dunk off a steal, extending the Pacers' lead to 83-68 in the second half and drawing laughter from the Indiana bench.

Despite a competitive first half where the Nets briefly held a 51-49 lead with under three minutes remaining, they allowed Indiana to close the half on a 16-5 run, entering halftime down by nine. This momentum shift proved critical as Brooklyn was unable to regain traction.

The second half saw the Pacers extend their lead further. After the Nets trailed by 14 points with just under six minutes left in the third quarter, Indiana went on a 12-0 run, capped by an Obi Toppin layup, making the score 100-74. The Nets faced a 26-point deficit and, unlike their comeback attempt the previous night against Cleveland, could not mount a rally.

In response to the lopsided score, Coach Jordi Fernández utilized the end of the game to provide playing time to players outside the usual rotation. Rookies Danny Wolf, Drake Powell, and Ben Saraf, all projected 2025 first-round picks who had not yet played this season, entered the game in the fourth quarter.
