Netflix Offers Spooky and Not-So-Spooky Halloween Movies for Kids in 2026

As Halloween weekend approaches, Netflix offers a diverse selection of films suitable for children, ranging from animated musicals with supernatural themes to milder slasher-style movies. Decider has compiled a list of these kid-friendly Halloween movies available on the streaming platform for 2026.

For families seeking animated entertainment, "K-Pop Demon Hunters" presents a PG-rated musical that, despite not being exclusively a Halloween film, features demons and became Netflix's most-watched original title. The story follows a fictional K-pop group that secretly battles demons, including a rival all-boy group composed of demons.

"The Curse of Bridge Hollow," rated TV-14, stars Priah Ferguson, known for her role in "Stranger Things." The film follows a 14-year-old who moves to a new town where Halloween decorations come to life, forcing her and her father, a science teacher, to take the supernatural events seriously.

Fans of R.L. Stine's works can enjoy "Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween" (2018), rated PG. This standalone sequel involves two friends who accidentally unleash characters from an unpublished "Goosebumps" manuscript, including the infamous Slappy the Dummy.

"Nightbooks," rated TV-PG, is recommended for children who enjoy being scared. Based on J.A. White's 2018 book, the film features a young boy and girl held captive by a witch who forces them to tell her scary stories each night. The movie is noted for delivering genuine scares in a kid-friendly manner.

For older children, particularly those aged 12 and up, "Wendell & Wild" (2022), rated PG-13, is recommended. Directed by Henry Selick, known for "The Nightmare Before Christmas," this animated film explores darker themes and political undertones while maintaining a spooky, punk-rock aesthetic.

Adam Sandler stars in "Hubie Halloween" (2020), rated PG-13. The comedy follows a dedicated but mocked town resident who must convince local authorities to take a series of disappearances seriously on Halloween night. While not as raunchy as some of Sandler's earlier comedies, it contains some adult humor.

The vampire romance "Twilight" (2008), rated PG-13, is suggested for tweens and teens. The film centers on a high school student who falls in love with a vampire.

A time-traveling slasher, "Time Cut" (2024), rated TV-14, follows a 16-year-old girl who travels back to 2003 to prevent the murder of her sister by a serial killer. Despite a premise similar to another streaming film, it offers early 2000s nostalgia.

Finally, "We Have a Ghost," rated PG-13, is a family-friendly ghost story about a teenager who discovers a ghost named Ernest in his new home. The film, starring Jahi Winston and David Harbour, focuses on the boy's efforts to help the ghost uncover his past and move on to the afterlife.

Netflix offers various subscription plans, starting at $7.99 per month for standard with ads, up to $24.99 per month for ad-free 4K UHD streaming.
