A new Netflix docuseries, "The Widower: 'Til Death Do Us Part," delves into the life of Thomas Randolph, a man linked to the deaths of four of his six ex-wives. The series, which premiered on September 30, 2026, follows the investigation led by Dateline producer Dan Slepian and Las Vegas police detective Dean O’Kelley.

The documentary chronicles real-time efforts to gather evidence and arrest Randolph. Slepian secured what is described as "extraordinary access" to individuals involved in the case, including Randolph himself, who engaged in hours-long phone calls and interviews with the reporter over more than a decade. Randolph, who has been characterized as charismatic, self-absorbed, and "cocky," provided ample material for Slepian's reporting.

The investigation intensified in 2008 when Randolph's sixth wife, Sharon Causse, was found murdered in her Las Vegas home. Randolph claimed he shot and killed their handyman, Mike Miller, in self-defense. However, O'Kelley found the crime scene details inconsistent with Randolph's account. Slepian, known for his work advocating for the wrongly imprisoned, received a tip suggesting the case was more complex than a straightforward homicide.

Randolph's history includes previous marriages where wives died under suspicious circumstances. One ex-wife was shot in the head, and her death was initially ruled a suicide; Randolph was acquitted of her murder. Another wife died in the hospital following heart surgery. Reports indicate that Randolph held substantial life insurance policies on his wives.

The docuseries draws from Slepian's previous reporting, including a 2021 Dateline series titled "The Widower." The current Netflix production aims to provide updated information and a deeper look into the investigation. The narrative follows O'Kelley's pursuit of incriminating evidence, culminating in Randolph's arrest, which was captured on camera by Slepian's crew. Randolph was tased and taken into custody after refusing to comply with officers at his home.

Critics have noted that while the series sometimes borders on sensationalism due to the nature of the individuals involved, it maintains journalistic integrity. The documentary highlights the investigation process and Slepian's own journalistic journey, which has often focused on systemic flaws in the justice system. The series suggests that Randolph, despite the evidence against him, has used his cunning to manipulate the legal system to delay justice.
