Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that Israel will not accept a roadmap put forth by former U.S. President Donald Trump, which proposed disarming Hamas in the Gaza Strip. The plan, referred to as the "Board of Peace's roadmap," was reportedly a 15-point proposal.

Netanyahu's rejection comes despite a historically cordial relationship with Trump, whom Netanyahu has previously called "the greatest friend that the state of Israel has ever had in the White House." However, recent interactions, including joint strikes against Iran in late February, have appeared to strain the relationship.

Hamas, meanwhile, has urged mediators to continue exerting pressure on Israel to adhere to what a senior Hamas official, Basem Naim, described as a "roadmap reached." Naim stated on the social media platform X that Hamas remains committed to this roadmap and expects mediators and the U.S. to compel Netanyahu's government to follow it, rather than obstruct it for domestic political or electoral reasons.

The conflict in Gaza has resulted in a significant number of casualties. According to the Gaza Health Ministry, over 1,250 people have been killed in Israeli attacks since a ceasefire in October 2025, with the majority being civilians. The ministry also reported that more than 73,000 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza since the war began. Hamas has not released figures on the number of its fighters killed.
