NeNe Leakes has reached out to her former rival Kim Zolciak to offer support as Zolciak's 15-year-old son, Kroy 'KJ' Biermann Jr., faces multiple felony sex crime charges. Leakes stated in a recent interview that she believes Zolciak is "not okay" during this difficult period.

"I recently spoke to Kim. I think it was last week. I just hit her up, wanted to know how she was doing, and made sure she was okay with what her son is dealing with," Leakes told the Big Tigger Morning Show. "I know that's a tough time and I know she's not okay. So I just wanted to reach out and I did."

Leakes clarified her current relationship with Zolciak, describing them as "associates" rather than close friends, despite their past on "The Real Housewives of Atlanta." She also indicated that she maintains contact with many other past and present cast members from the show.

Zolciak's son, KJ, was arrested on March 17 and subsequently indicted on seven felony charges. These charges include aggravated child molestation and aggravated sodomy, stemming from an alleged sexual assault involving an underage girl. The incident reportedly occurred on April 23 in a changing area at a Life Time Fitness gym in Alpharetta, Georgia.

Prosecutors revealed during a bond hearing that videos found on KJ's cell phone appeared to show sexual encounters with a family member under 12 years old. According to Deputy District Attorney Caitlin McGillicuddy, KJ allegedly used "predatory" and "derogatory" language in these recorded encounters.

KJ's defense attorney, Jason Sheffield, stated that the matter involved "inappropriate, crude behavior involving two middle-schoolers" and did not result in an adjudication for statutory rape or comparable offenses. He asserted that any suggestion otherwise created a "materially misleading impression."

A judge granted KJ a $200,000 bond. The terms of his release include strict conditions such as total house arrest, monitoring, no contact with minors, prohibition from using digital devices or social media, virtual schooling, and travel restrictions. KJ is scheduled for arraignment on October 14.

In a prior statement to the Daily Mail, Zolciak described the allegations as "reckless and deeply troubling." She stated that her son "categorically denies ever being involved with this woman or engaging in the conduct she has alleged." Zolciak also mentioned that her son voluntarily took and passed a polygraph examination regarding the allegations, and that no DNA belonging to him was found during an examination. She expressed confidence that the facts and evidence would establish the truth and requested that the legal process be allowed to unfold without the spread of unproven allegations.
