Nearly One Year On, Search Continues for Fugitive Football Coach Accused of Child Sex Offenses

The United States Marshals Service and Virginia State Police are continuing their search for Travis Turner, a former high school football coach who disappeared nearly a year ago amid accusations of child pornography and soliciting a minor.

Authorities reported no new leads in the case when contacted, but both agencies stated that the search for Turner and the investigation into the allegations remain active.

Turner, 46, vanished from his home in Big Stone Gap, Virginia, on November 20, 2025, days before police intended to arrest him. Law enforcement officials had sought him on 10 charges, including five counts of child pornography and five counts of using a computer to solicit a minor. Police were en route to his residence when they learned he had already fled.

The former Union High School coach was last seen heading into the Appalachian wilderness, reportedly carrying a firearm. There have been no confirmed sightings of Turner since his disappearance.

As of late March, the Virginia State Police had responded to over 178 leads related to the case, with 17 submitted anonymously. The US Marshals Service is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to Turner's whereabouts.

Turner's family has publicly urged him to return home and has been cooperating with law enforcement. According to a December statement from the family's attorney, Adrian Collins, Turner left his home without his car, keys, contact lenses, glasses, wallet, license, or cash. The family has expressed concern for his well-being while hoping he will be found to defend himself in court.

Despite Turner's absence, Union High School achieved success on the field during the previous season, winning a regional championship and reaching a 12-0 record before ultimately losing in the state semifinals. The team currently holds a 4-2 record under new coach Jamie Harless this season.
