Approximately 25,000 pounds of frozen buffalo chicken products are being recalled because they were produced without the required federal inspection, the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced Wednesday.

Boston-based Shanghai Ravioli Corporation is voluntarily recalling about 24,900 pounds of frozen, not-ready-to-eat buffalo chicken products. The recalled items include "Buffalo Chicken Rangoon," sold in boxes of 100 pieces, and "Benedetto’s Buffalo Chicken Mozzarella Stick," sold in boxes of 120 pieces. These products were produced between July 8, 2025, and June 29, 2026, and bear sell-by dates ranging from July 8, 2026, to June 29, 2027.

The food items were distributed to foodservice locations in Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont. The FSIS expressed concern that some of these products might still be present in foodservice refrigerators or freezers and is instructing businesses that purchased them not to serve them. Consumers are advised to throw away the affected products or return them to their place of purchase.

The recalled products are marked with the establishment number "EST. 18004," which FSIS states does not have a federal grant of inspection. Food produced without proper inspection can pose risks to consumer health and safety due to potential undeclared allergens, harmful bacteria, or other contaminants.

The issue was identified during routine FSIS surveillance activities. As of the announcement, there have been no confirmed reports of illness or injury associated with the consumption of these products. Individuals with concerns about potential illness or injury should consult a healthcare provider.
