National Trust for Jersey Acquires Land to Expand Green Space

The National Trust for Jersey has acquired a field with the aim of preserving the agricultural heritage of Maupertuis Farm and its surrounding area. The organization stated that the purchase will contribute to expanding a "green lung" for the benefit of both wildlife and people.

Chief executive Alan Le Maistre highlighted the increasing value of green spaces, particularly in densely populated areas. "It is a privilege to have the opportunity to extend this green lung for both the wildlife and people of the area," he said.

The National Trust for Jersey, which marked its 90th anniversary in August, currently manages approximately 1,800 vergées of land across the island. The trust is inviting individuals who wish to support this latest acquisition to contact them directly.

The organization hopes the newly acquired land will serve as a sanctuary for wildlife within an urban environment.
