Nathan Cleary Buys $5.5 Million Beachside Property

NRL star Nathan Cleary has purchased a $5.5 million beachside property in Curl Curl, located on Sydney's northern beaches. The move signals a departure from Penrith, where he has played his entire professional career.

The property, reportedly secured earlier this year, is situated on a 510sqm block just 100 meters from the beach and offers ocean views. The existing 1950s cottage features four bedrooms and one bathroom, with speculation that Cleary may eventually redevelop the site.

This acquisition marks a return to the northern beaches for Cleary, 28, who spent part of his childhood in the area before his family relocated closer to Penrith due to his father Ivan's coaching career. His parents later purchased a property in Newport, where they built a new residence.

Cleary has been actively involved in property investment. In 2018, he bought a renovated 1970s home in Penrith for $1.05 million. He later acquired his family's riverside Penrith home from his father for $1.7 million, undertaking significant renovations, including adding a putting green.

He also previously invested in an apartment in Penrith's Thornton Central precinct, purchased off the plan in 2016 and later sold for $660,000 in March 2025. The apartment was used as a rental property.

Cleary's current contract with the Penrith Panthers extends through the end of the 2027 season. He has been a key figure in the team's four consecutive premierships from 2021 to 2024 and is the club's all-time leading points scorer. Reports have linked him with a potential move to England's Super League.

There is no indication that his girlfriend, Matildas star Mary Fowler, is listed on the title of the new property.
