Natalie Portman Discusses Welcoming New Baby with Partner Tanguy Destable
The actress shared her feelings about her "magical" new arrival and how it has influenced her perspective on her older children.
Natalie Portman has spoken for the first time about welcoming her new baby with partner Tanguy Destable, describing the experience as "magical." The actress shared her thoughts in a recent interview with Harper's Bazaar, reflecting on the joy the infant has brought into her life.
Portman, 45, noted that the arrival of her youngest child has given her a "whole new mindset" regarding her two older children, son Aleph, 15, and daughter Amalia, 9. She expressed a renewed appreciation for her elder children, stating, "I am reminded of how recently they were these little fresh creations and how quickly they’ve blossomed into incredible humans with their own amazing personalities and senses of humor and ideas."
The Oscar winner described her current life as being "full of wonder and joy" due to the new addition. While she has not publicly shared the baby's name, sex, or specific birth date, she was first seen with the newborn in early September. At that time, Destable was pictured carrying their child in a carrier during a walk in Paris.
Portman announced her pregnancy in April, calling the upcoming arrival a "privilege" and a "miracle." She indicated at the time that this would likely be her last child, but found the experience to be peaceful and grounded in knowing "who I want to spend time with, what kind of energy I want around me." She shared a glimpse of her baby bump on social media three months prior to the birth.
Portman and French DJ Tanguy Destable, 46, were first photographed together in 2025. They have largely kept their relationship private. In the Harper's Bazaar interview, Portman emphasized the importance of love, kindness, and laughter in her life, stating that at this stage, she prioritizes spending time with people and in situations that embody these values.
Portman previously welcomed Aleph in 2011 and Amalia in 2017 with ex-husband Benjamin Millepied. She and Millepied have been co-parenting their children since their separation in 2023 after more than a decade of marriage.
