NASA has released four cosmic images, rendered in patriotic hues of red, white, and blue, in anticipation of the United States' 250th birthday.

The images, all captured by the Chandra X-ray Observatory, were unveiled on Tuesday, June 30. NASA stated that these celestial views represent "the wonders of the universe the agency explores."

The collection features Cassiopeia A, which is the expanding debris from a massive star that underwent an explosion. Another image showcases NGC 3603, identified as a vast cloud where new stars are actively forming. Also included is Messier 94, a spiral galaxy distinguished by a bright inner ring of star birth. The fourth image displays ZwCl 0024+1652, a galaxy cluster comprising numerous galaxies bound together by gravitational forces.

Launched in 1999, NASA's Chandra X-ray Observatory is a flagship X-ray telescope. It operates from orbit, studying high-energy phenomena in the universe, such as exploding stars, black holes, and the hot gas found within galaxies and clusters.

The United States is set to commemorate the 250th anniversary of its Declaration of Independence on July 4.
