Mysterious Orb Seen Soaring Over Los Angeles Freeway During Live TV Report

A mysterious metallic sphere was observed hovering over a congested Los Angeles freeway in mid-September, captured by a news helicopter during a live television report. The unusual sighting occurred as dozens of vehicles were stalled in evening rush hour traffic.

The helicopter, belonging to FOX 11 Los Angeles, was focused on the highway when the camera operator reportedly noticed the strange object. The sphere, described as roughly the size of a basketball, appeared to travel in a straight line away from the highway towards a wooded neighborhood.

The camera operator briefly shifted focus from the traffic to track the object for several seconds before returning to the road congestion. The news outlet has not commented on the footage, which has circulated widely online since being posted on September 22.

Online viewers have debated the nature of the object, with some comparing it to the 'Buga Sphere' incident in Colombia last year. Skeptics suggest possibilities such as a drone, a weather balloon, or 'marker balls' used to make power lines visible to aircraft. Conversely, others argue that the object's steady, direct trajectory is inconsistent with wind drift or the behavior of a typical balloon.

This sighting adds to California's history of UFO reports. According to the crowdsourced platform Enigma, which documents public sightings, nearly 30,000 unidentified object sightings have been reported in California since 1901, with over 2,500 specifically mentioning spheres. These reports nearly double those of Florida, the next closest state.

The incident also comes amid increased attention to unidentified aerial phenomena, with the Pentagon having released six reports since May detailing sightings of objects, including metallic spheres, by US drones and satellites.
