Muse frontman Matt Bellamy has filed for divorce from his wife, Elle Evans, just two days after their seventh wedding anniversary. The 48-year-old musician submitted a petition for dissolution of marriage in Los Angeles Superior Court on Wednesday, citing "irreconcilable differences." The date of separation is listed as "to be determined," though reports indicate the couple separated last year.
Bellamy is seeking sole legal and physical custody of their two children, six-year-old daughter Lovella and two-year-old son George. He is also requesting that spousal support be awarded to Evans in accordance with their prenuptial agreement.
Evans, who described her marriage to Bellamy as "unbearable," stated that the divorce filing was "a long time coming." She has vowed to fight for custody of her children.
Relationship Timeline
Bellamy and Evans met 11 years ago on the set of Muse's music video for "Mercy." They married in Malibu on August 10, 2019. Their first child, Lovella, was born in 2020, followed by their son, George, in May 2024.
Reports of their separation surfaced in February of this year. Bellamy confirmed the split in an interview in June, stating that the separation "threw [him] off" and that he had to prioritize his children and home stability. He described channeling his emotions into Muse's latest album, "The Wow! Signal," released on June 26, as a "lifeline."
The couple's last public appearance together was in March 2025. Their second child, George, was born just over a year and a half prior to the divorce filing.
Bellamy was previously engaged to actress Kate Hudson, with whom he shares a 15-year-old son, Bingham.
