Greater Manchester Police have freed a 25-year-old man arrested on suspicion of murder in the fatal stabbing of 26-year-old Alisha Samuels. He has been released on bail pending further inquiries and is no longer being treated as a suspect.

Samuels was found with fatal stab wounds on Dorking Avenue at approximately 2 a.m. on Thursday. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Police were alerted to a disturbance following reports of screaming and shouting in the Manchester suburb.

Witnesses reported seeing a vehicle collide with a police van on nearby Briscoe Lane, after which a man was taken from the car. Forensic investigators later examined a damaged vehicle as police cordoned off multiple areas.

In addition to the man arrested on suspicion of murder, a 61-year-old man and a 38-year-old woman were arrested on Thursday on suspicion of assisting an offender.

Friends have paid tribute to Samuels, describing her as a "beautiful soul." Aimee Quinn recalled their shared plans to travel the world and stated, "Nothing will ever be the same now you've gone, I am truly broken." Another friend, Carris Mallon, wrote, "My whole entire world you really are the bestest friend I could ever ever ask for." A woman whose daughter attended school with Samuels described her as having a "smile that would light up every room."

Detective Chief Inspector Justin Bryant stated that the investigation remains active, and police are pursuing those believed to be responsible. He urged the public not to speculate about the circumstances of the death, as it could hinder the investigation and cause distress to the family. Information can be provided to Greater Manchester Police or the independent charity Crimestoppers.
