Police have launched a murder investigation after the body of Laura Foulis, 38, was found in the remains of burned-down stables on Friday lunchtime. Fire crews were called to the blaze at the rural property on the outskirts of Rochdale, Greater Manchester, at around 12:30 p.m.

Large flames and black smoke were seen billowing across the surrounding area before emergency services extinguished the fire. The site at Higher Tunshill Farm remained cordoned off for several days as forensic investigators examined the scene.

Ms. Foulis, originally from the Isle of Man, was a keen horsewoman and mother of three. Tributes on social media described her as a "kind and beautiful" person with a "big heart" who inspired others' passion for horses. Friends recalled her as being one of a kind and a soul who would be missed by many.

A man in his 40s was arrested on suspicion of murder in connection with the incident. He has since been bailed pending further inquiries. Greater Manchester Police confirmed that investigations are ongoing.

It is understood that the derelict stables may have been undergoing renovation. A referral has been made to Rochdale Coroners' Court, and an inquest will open at a later date.
