Residents of Mumbles, Swansea, are preparing to bid an emotional farewell to Bonnie Tyler, the iconic voice behind "Total Eclipse of the Heart." Tyler, who passed away in July at the age of 75, was a familiar figure in the village, known to many not as a global superstar, but simply as Gaynor Sullivan, or "Gaynor who lived up the road."
Tyler, who divided her time between Mumbles and a home in Portugal, was often seen out shopping or socializing with friends in the village. In a poignant coincidence, the village was filled with her music as the largest partial solar eclipse in nearly three decades occurred, reportedly causing a near doubling of Spotify streams for "Total Eclipse of the Heart."
On Saturday, hundreds are expected to line Newton Road to pay their respects as Tyler's coffin makes its way through the village to her home on Mumbles Road. A service for family and invited guests will be held at St Mary's Church in Swansea city centre on Monday, followed by a procession to her birthplace in Skewen, Neath Port Talbot.
